Rules & Regulations

To place an on line entry click here:

All entries must be registered on-line. This will be required for all exhibits and exhibitors that are entered in the fair. If you don’t have access to a computer, then the library is your best option. There will also be a computer available for use at the fair office during normal business hours.
Register on-line through Monday prior to the fair (one week)
This department is under the Grandstand, please note that this is a new location.

Bring in entry: Thursday prior to the fair 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Pick up entry: Sunday after the fair - noon to 3 p.m .

The Open Class Art Department encourages artist of all ages and abilities to display their work at the Fair. Please share your Art work for our community to enjoy during the Fair.

· Original paintings and drawings completed in the past two years and not previously shown at the Northwest Washington Fair are eligible. All work must be signed by the artist.

· Entries must be suitably framed and equipped with screw eyes and wire for hanging . No saw-tooth hangers. All paint and varnish must be dry. Watercolors and drawings must be under glass. Computerized work will not be accepted.

· Label on back of entry with name, age, phone number and art medium used.

· The department reserves the right to reclassify entries deemed improperly classified, select and eliminate work to be exhibited, and reject work for any reason such as size, fragility, inappropriateness, or infringement of rules.

· Exhibitors may submit 2 entries in this department.

· No entry fees are required and no free admission will be issued to the exhibitor.

· On-line entries still require you to bring your item in at the listed times. On-line entries do not guarantee a spot if the space is full when you arrive.

· Entries must be picked up Sunday following the Fair between noon and 3 p.m. After Sunday
release time security is no longer available. On Monday the buildings remain open for cleaning.

· The judge will be an artist or teacher or critic of established reputation in the field of art. Judging will be Friday prior to the Fair

· No art work shall be advertised or priced for sale.

· NO artwork will be released early; doing so will result in forfeit of premium.

· ONLY family friendly artwork. NO NUDE etc....Contact the Superintendent if you have any questions.

Artist in Action – Anyone interested in coming and bringing an Art project and demonstrating your talents of painting, drawing etc… during the week of the Fair please contact Art Dept Superintendent for more information and to sign up. Thank you

NEW: Educational Displays: To encourage those attending the Fair to learn more about Art. Educational Displays teaching. Please contact Superintendent if you would like to be involved in this because there is limited space and entries.

Ideas include:
*Painting with Oils, acrylics, watercolors
*Drawing - horses, trees, people etc...
*Portrait drawing or painting
*Art History
*Types of Brushes

Because of Phyillis love of children being involved in Art at the Fair one winner will be chosen from the entries in the youth, junior, and teen divisions - 18 and under.

Patriotic Award - All Patriotic entries will receive a small flag

Superintendent Choice - Special Rosettes given to several entries in the Art Department

Judges Choice - Special Rosettes given to several entries in the Art Department

Viewers Choice - every day of the Fair those attending can vote for their favorite entry, at the end of the day the winner will receive a Viewers Choice Rosette
