*NEW FOR 2018*

All entries must be registered online. This will be required for all exhibits and exhibitors that are entered into the fair. If you don’t have access to a computer, then the library is your best option. There will also be a computer available for use at the fair office during normal business hours.

1. Entries can be placed on-line through the 1st Monday in August. Entires can be brought in on Monday and Tuesday of the week prior to the fair, 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. On-line entries require you to bring your item in at the day and time listed for this department. On-line entries do not guarantee a spot if the space is full when you bring your item in.

2. Judging will be Wednesday the week prior to the fair.

3. Only one entry per class. Each lot has potential for two premiums only.

4. All entries will be judged on general appearance, beauty of design, workmanship and suitability. The opinion of the judge must be final in all cases. Qualified judges are from outside of Whatcom County.

5. No premium will be given unless the article is worthy, regardless of competition.

6. Any needle work item completed since August of the previous year and not previously shown at the Northwest Washington Fair is eligible.

7. All articles must be the handiwork of the exhibitor. Articles that are soiled will not be accepted. No items with glass will be accepted. Superintendent has the right to accept or refuse any entry.

8. Department, division and class is determined by the exhibitor. If you have questions about your entry please contact the superintendent prior to entry day.

9. Please use the description space for on-line entries and give brief description of item, such as color, pattern, etc.

10. Entries must be picked up on Sunday after the fair between 12 p.m. and 2 p.m. There is NO SECURITY available after Sunday release time and on Monday the buildings will remain open for cleaning.

11. No entry fees are required and no free admission will be issued to exhibitors.

12. Doilies, afghans, knitted and crocheted pieces must be blocked. All items should lay flat for judging.

PLEASE note the following rule:

A MANDATORY hanging sleeve is required for all quilts and wall hangings. Sleeves must be:

1. Sewn, not pinned, to the back top edge of your entry

2. 4 “ finished tube

3. Run the full width of your entry

Quilts and wall hangings without sleeves will not be accepted because they cannot be displayed. If you need information about making and sewing on your hanging sleeve, you can find help on the internet by searching for “quilt hanging sleeves”. Most quilt shops can assist you with this also.

All quilts and wall hangings will displayed by hanging them on rods. The rods used are mostly galvanized plumbing pipes. It is recommended that your hanging sleeve is a 4” finished TUBE. That way, your entry will not come into contact with the pipe. If your sleeve is not a tube, then the back of your entry will contact the pipe and may become soiled.

Every attempt is made to fully display all quilt and wall hanging entries, however, it is not always possible due to the volume of entries, and in that case, some entries may be partially displayed. The decision to partially display an entry is based on space available and how each entry will fit into the available spaces.
