4H & FFA EXHIBITORS
$ 5.00 per animal – Beef and Dairy (pay online).
$15.00 per animal – Horse (pay online).
No fee for any other classes.
4H & FFA Exhibitors entering 5 or more Dairy or Beef animals will need to email email@example.com to request an appointment make their entry. This is required in order to bypass the calculation done online and only be charged for entering 4 animals ($20 for 4H Dairy / $20 for 4H Beef). We will respond to your email request within 24 hours and take your credit card payment (Visa / MasterCard) at that time.
Any quantity of Beef, Dairy and Horse entered = 1 complimentary Season Gate Admission Wristband
All other 4H & FFA exhibitors are entitled to purchase a Season Gate Admission Wristband for $15.00.
All 4H and FFA Youth Helpers are able to purchase a Season Gate Admission Wristband for $15.00.
Parents of 4H & FFA students are able to purchase a Season Exhibitor Pass at the discounted rate of $27.00.
Above purchases will be made at the fair office by the 4H Leader and/or FFA Advisor when they turn in their club lists. The above fair passes cannot be paid online at time of registration.
4H Leaders and FFA Advisors are requested to identify those members on their club list that have entered Dairy, Beef or Horse with an * beside the exhibitors name.
All entries for Open, 4H and FFA will be made using the same ShoWorks entry link.
All entries must be registered online.
If you don’t have access to a computer, the library is an option or the Fair Office has a computer available during business hours.
All entries requiring payment must pay online or at time of entry appointment if entering 5 or more 4H Dairy or 4H Beef.
Exhibits can be entered on-line by July 25th. Late entries will be charged a fee of $25.00 per head through July 31st. After July 31st late entries may not be accepted. All exhibits must be in place by 9 a.m. Monday of the fair. Registration papers that are not to Superintendent by July 31st will be charged a late fee of $10.00 per animal. All exhibits must be in place by 9 a.m. Monday of the fair.
Animal Haul in - Anytime Sunday before the fair via the north door of the Dairy Barn, and exiting via Gate 2.
Vet Checks are Sunday from 5 - 8 p.m. and Monday 6 - 9 a.m.
Animal Release - Released Saturday night of the fair at 9 p.m. Parking in the turn lane before 8:55 p.m. is not allowed by the Lynden P.D. Enter at north end of Dairy Barn and exit through Gate 2. This will be supervised by the Superintendent.

- Entries in the dairy class are open to registered and grade animals cared for and fitted by 4-H club members.
- Dairy certificate and enrollment must be in the Extension office by June 1st, one certificate per class number, 4 maximum. Dairy record agreements must be turned into the Superintendent Monday, beginning day of the fair.
- All livestock eligible to compete for premiums in the purebred class must be accompanied by a certificate of registration. Papers not received by July 31st will be charged a $10.00 late fee per animal's paper.
- No animal will be allowed to compete for more than one premium, nor shall be entered in more than one class, except as one of a club, or cows for milk.
- Only blue and red ribbon winners in 4-H and FFA are eligible to enter Open Class Cattle.
- 4-H may enter open class provided there is a minimum of ten open class cattle per breed or two exhibitors.
- Each 4-H member will be allowed a maximum of four animals. In case of shortage in stall space, 4 H members with the most entries will be cut first.
- All animals must have a double tie at night. No baling twine or wire.
- No dairy animal with horns will be permitted to exhibit except those entered in the Junior Heifer calf class. Horns, as defined for all other age classes, shall include "scurs", "nubbins," or "stubs", which extend beyond the skin more than one inch.
- All milk must be put into tank and will become property of the fair. All medicated animals must be milked last if using the parlor.
- A respiratory complex vaccine is strongly recommended four weeks prior to the fair.

All 4-H exhibitors need to inform the open class clerk of entries to be shown and entries that have been scratched.
DIVISION A - FITTING AND SHOWING
Add member's birth date on entry form.
All dairy breeds will show together. Contestants will be divided into at least four groups of equal size based on each member’s birth date, including novice. 1st and 2nd place showmen in the oldest group will participate in the Round Robin Competition. Show order will be Novice and then the remaining groups, youngest to oldest will begin immediately following the Novice group.

DIVISION H - CLUB HERDSMANSHIP
To be entered by Club Leader only
JUDGING: Will be done on a club basis two times each day. Club stalls will be judged during the entire Fair, up to 5 p.m. on Saturday. Judging will be based on condition of animals, cleanliness, attentiveness of exhibitors, arrangement of club, stall, and educational displays and decorations.
4-H clubs will be categorized as either 'Large' herd or 'Small' herd at the first official herdsmanship scoring on Monday.

Must be enrolled in a dairy project and give oral reasons to receive premium.

DIVISION M - NW Start to Finish Event
Teams will be chosen and assigned at the beginning of the event.
Enter on livestock entry form. (Premium value is awarded to each team member. MUST complete all phases of event to receive premium.)
Heifers are provided so we request that there is no cross-over of Sheep and Dairy Exhibitors.

1. NW Start to Finish Event
This is a 3-person team event. Starting at 11:30 a.m., teams will be assembled. Each team works with a non-halter broke heifer (4-6 months of age). They will wash, train to lead, clip, and prepare the heifer for a Fit and Show event. Each member gets the opportunity to show the heifer and their handiwork. Teams will be judged on participation by all members, communication between team members, helping each other to learn better or new fitting skills, and the final end result. This is a great time to practice or learn team work, fitting skills and showing skills, as well as provide an educational opportunity for the public! Each team to provide their own equipment (contact your club leader if clippers are needed). Heifers will be provided. Show attire - white shirt, clean pants, and close-toed shoes.
Lunch will be provided to event participants.
Each member of the top placing team will be awarded a plaque donated by LAIRD'S LIVESTOCK HAULING, INC.
Exhibitors: Please notify your club leader of your intention to participate in this event.
Club Leaders: Please assist your club members in this event by making sure there is a set of clippers in good working condition available for their use. (One set of clippers is needed for every 3 members participating.) Notify Joanne Odens (354-1552) 10 days prior to the first day of the fair to let her know the number of club members in your group that will be participating.
DIVISION N - DAIRY CLUB HERD CONTEST to be entered by the Club Leader ONLY

* Entries are limited to Whatcom County 4-H clubs only.
* Clubs exhibiting seven or more dairy animals of one breed will be required to show four animals of that breed as a herd. Clubs exhibiting less than seven dairy animals of one breed will be required to show two animals of that breed as a herd.
* All animals shown by any club must belong to members of that club, but can be held by any member of that club. Leaders may aid club members in setting up animals in the ring.
