Cat Department Rules

1. Members may enter multiple cats, but only one cat may be entered in Fitting and Showing. Current vaccinations are required for all cats entered.

2. Entries can be entered on-line, or forms are due in the fair office by July 25th. Entries must be signed by parent or guardian of each exhibitor assuming any and all responsibilities and liability resulting from any action, accidents or misfortune to the cats, exhibitors and spectators. All exhibitors or clubs participating at this fair in these events must be accompanied by an adult leader, advisor, and/or parent or guardian.

3. Veterinary check will be Thursday morning at 8:30 a.m. No cats may be benched until they have passed vet inspection.

4. Exhibitors must enter Herdsmanship, Fitting and Showing and Type.

5. No pregnant or nursing cats may be entered.

6. At least one attendant for every eight cats shall be on duty at all times. The attendant must be a 4-H cat exhibitor. One adult leader, parent and/or guardian shall be on duty at all times. All cats will be displayed from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday through Saturday. No cats will be left in the benching area overnight.

7. While on the Fairgrounds, all cats must be transported in a pet carrier, be in a suitable harness, and on a leash.

8. Cages may to be decorated, but cats must be in full view at all times.

9. Exhibitor must present proof of vaccination by a licensed veterinarian. All cats must have been vaccinated against rabies with an approved vaccine within 12 months (36 months is acceptable where product label so indicates.) Cats must be vaccinated against feline panleukopenia, feline rhinotrachetis, and calici viruses within 12 months.

10. Cages will be provided. Cage dimensions are 22" x 22" x 45". Owners must supply own litter, litter box, scoop, bedding, food, and dishes.

11. Each exhibitor must have an educational display or promotional poster about cats to display for the public.


12. Costumes should be made by exhibitors with adult "help". Store bought accessories may be added, but no store bought full costumes.

Bring to the Cat area to be judged.
Limited to one entry in each lot.
Any project, equipment built, sewing project, models, mounted photography or art project associated with cats.

DIVISION F - HERDSMANSHIP

Judging will be done on an individual basis, based on display, educational poster, name on stall cards. Cleanliness and orderliness of cages, equipment out of sight or neatly displayed, alleyway swept and neat, educational displays - 60%
Exhibitors (youth on duty) appearance, courtesy, conduct and cooperation of job - 30%
Cats harnessed and in cages at all times except during grooming - 10%.

SMALL ANIMAL ROUND ROBIN CONTEST

The Champion Fit and Show exhibitor from the cat, cavy, dog, poultry and rabbit projects compete for the best overall showing exhibitor. Contest is Saturday at 10 a.m. One champion and four runner-up rosettes will be awarded.
