PART-TIME, SEASONAL OFFICE CLERK

The Northwest Washington Fair and Event Center holds an annual Fair from August 13 – 18, 2018. We are currently hiring a Part-Time, Seasonal, Office Clerk. The ideal candidate will be a hard working individual with a positive attitude, possess excellent customer service skills and be a team player. This is a job-shared position and will run from mid-May to the end of August. The work week will be Tuesday and Wednesday, 9:00am to 4:30pm, with the exception of the week prior to the Fair and Fair week when hours and days worked will increase.
Duties will include:
• Greet customers and assist with their inquiries.
• Answer a multi-line phone system including voice mail, directing calls to the appropriate departments as necessary.
• Sell tickets and other products.
• Balance cash register.
• Receive and process payments.
• Process ticket orders.
• Open and distribute mail.
• Provide general office support.
Experience with customer service, handling cash, computer programs and a multi-line phone system is preferred. Candidate must be able to work accurately, in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment while maintaining exceptional customer service and working as a team.

RETURNING WORKER:

If you worked at the Fair last summer (2017) and you have received a postcard or email inviting you back, please complete a returning worker application. Your returning worker application must be returned to the Fair office prior to June 5th. You're welcome to click on the below link and submit your returning worker application online. Or you may print off the Returning Worker Application PDF, fill it out and wither submit it in person, by mail or by email (email applications to info@nwwafair.com).

FAIR WEEK JOB DESCRIPTIONS:

Admissions – Ticket Seller:
Friendly and responsible with cash handling, computer and customer service experience. Duties include greeting customers and selling gate tickets. Work is performed inside ticket booth.
Admissions – Parking Seller:
Friendly and responsible with cash handling and customer service experience. Selling parking tickets and verifying parking pass. Work is performed outside.
Admissions – Greeter/Hand Stamper:
Friendly, customer orientated individual to greet guests and scan tickets as guests enter the fair/grandstand. Work is performed outside. Must be able to stand throughout shift.
Dairy Barn – Milking Parlor:
Responsible and hardworking individual to maintain the Milking Parlor, wash tank and change the filters. Also responsible for getting grain for cows. Extensive walking and bending is required.
Dairy Barn – Clean Up Crew:
Responsible and hardworking individual to clean the show area, hose down wash rack area and wipe down bleachers. Tractor driving experience is preferred but not required. Extensive walking and bending is required.
Draft Horse Barn:
Hardworking and friendly individual to clean areas where horses travel and hose down the wash rack area. Cleaning includes sweeping and wiping down bleachers in both arenas, and picking up litter in the food court behind the Grandstand. Work is performed indoors and outdoors. Extensive walking and bending is required.
Event Staff:
Responsible and hardworking individual to assist exhibitors in ingress and egress pre and post Fair. Open and close buildings at designated times. Keeping fair-goers a safe distance away from the Draft Horse hitches while they are in staging area. Work is performed outside and extensive walking is required.
Garbage Crew – Early Morning Clean Up:
Hardworking and reliable individual for general clean-up of the fairgrounds, using a blower. Cleaning tables and chairs, dry sweeping floor and replacing tables and chairs in Expo food court. Extensive walking and bending is required. Work is performed both inside and outside.
Garbage Crew – Pickers:
Hardworking and responsible individual for general clean-up of fairgrounds. Includes picking up all litter using a garbage picker and bucket. Pickers are in groups of two and assigned a specific area within the fairgrounds. Extensive walking and bending is required. Work is performed outside.
Garbage Crew – Sanitation:
Hardworking and responsible individual to drive lawn mower with trailer around the fairgrounds. Replacing full garbage cans with empty ones, loading full garbage cans onto trailer and unloading full garbage cans at compactor. Work is performed outside.
Garbage Crew – Compactor Operator:
Reliable and hardworking individual to operate the garbage compactor. Oversee the loading, emptying and unloading process for all garbage cans. Compactor experience is preferred but not required. Extensive walking and bending is required. Work is performed outside.
Handwashing Station Crew:
Hardworking and reliable individual to maintain and clean handwashing stations, including restocking with water, paper towels and soap. Extensive walking and bending is required. Work is performed outside.
ID Checker:
Responsible individual to check ID’s at the entrance of the Beer Corral and Hospitality Corral. Prevent alcoholic beverages from leaving the Beer Corral and Hospitality Corral. Prior experience as an ID checker is preferred. Work is performed outside and standing required throughout shift.
Parking Attendant:
Hardworking and reliable individual to verify customers have the correct parking pass for the lot they are about to enter. Direct cars to parking space. Work is performed outdoors and standing required throughout shift.
Restroom Cleaner:
Hardworking and responsible individual to clean the restrooms, replenish supplies and communicate with restroom lead as needed for repairs. Extensive walking and bending required. Work is performed indoors and outdoors.
Shuttle Bus Driver:
Responsible and friendly, with bus driving experience. Transport Fair visitors to and from the Fair, stopping at various designated locations. Must have a valid CDL.
