Rules and Regulations
1. FAIR HOURS: 9 a.m. - 10:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Only exhibitors and workers with passes will be allowed through the gate before and after these hours.
2. No parking on fairgrounds. No vehicles allowed on fairgrounds between 9 a.m. and 11 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
3. Exhibitor's and worker's passes will be available only to persons whose presence is required every day.
4. No person shall incur any financial obligation whatsoever against the Fair without first obtaining a requisition from the Manager.
5. Any persons handling or taking any exhibits that do not belong to them may be prosecuted according to the law.
6. The management shall have the general supervision of the grounds and the entire exhibition, control of the police regulations, and entrance and exit gates.
7. Should there be any disputes or misunderstandings which none of the By-Laws, rules and regulations will govern, whether in connection with judging or otherwise, they shall be referred to the Board of Directors whose decision shall be final.
8. The management reserves the final and absolute right to alter, interpret, or change the rules and regulations as may become necessary; also to determine all matters, questions, and differences that may arise in/or out of an incident at the Fair.
9. The Fair will use every precaution in its power for the preservation of all articles and stock on exhibition, but will not be responsible for loss or damage.
10. ALL ENTRIES:
- May be made on-line by deadline listed in each department, or on entry days as specified in department rules.
- Must be entered in the name owner/maker whose name must be endorsed on the entry card.
- Close at the time designated in the rules of each department.
- Must be in place and in final proper condition for the exhibition as specified in the department rules.
- Exhibits shall be considered unclaimed Thirty (30) days following the last day of the Fair and will be considered property of the Northwest Washington Fair Association. Any cost related to disposal will be passed on to the exhibitor. It is the full responsibility of the exhibitor to pick up their exhibit prior to such disposal and the Fair is not obligated to notify the exhibitor of the unclaimed exhibit.
- Entries not picked up on Sunday at the specified time will remain in unlocked buildings with no security.
- Entries moved or removed before the Sunday release time will forfeit all premiums.
- Entries mailed in to our office will NOT be accepted nor will they be sent back to exhibitor.
- You cannot leave your entry at the office for them to enter at the appropriate time. The office can NOT accept entries.
- Please come at the designated time with your entries, the departments will not accept them earlier or later.
- You need only ONE exhibitor number for ALL your entries at the fair.
- Ribbons will only be available at pick-up/release time. They cannot be mailed and are not available at the office.
11. No animal or article will be allowed to compete for more than one premium, nor shall be entered in more than one class, except as one of a herd, or cows for milk.
12. All livestock eligible to compete for premiums in the purebred class must be accompanied by a certificate of registration.
13. Only blue and red ribbon winners in 4-H and FFA are eligible to enter Open Class Cattle.
14. 4-H and FFA may enter open class provided there is a minimum of ten open class cattle per breed or two exhibitors.
15. If it be ascertained that any exhibitor or spectator shall attempt to interfere with the judge in the performance of their duty in any matter, or shall refuse to accept the awards made, they shall be disqualified from further competition and shall forfeit any premiums and ribbons already awarded.
16. An exhibitor who may desire to enter a protest must enter such protest in writing previous to the closing of the show and must deposit $5.00 with the secretary and which, in the case the protest is not sustained, is forfeited and is added to the funds of the Fair.
17. Any person knowingly violating the rules of the Fair may forfeit any premium that may be awarded to them.
18. No alcoholic beverages allowed on fairgrounds. Exhibitors breaking this rule will forfeit all fair premiums.
19. All premium checks will be mailed after Sunday release times and must be cashed by November 1st of the current year.
20. Any error in the records of premiums caused by oversight or neglect shall be subject to correction whenever proof is furnished the manager that a mistake has been made. Errors must be reported before November 1st of the current year.
21. No animals shall be withdrawn from the Fair before 9 p.m. Saturday (or specified time of department) of the Fair. No articles or exhibits are to be removed from the buildings until Sunday after closing of the Fair. Exhibits so withdrawn forfeit all claims to premiums.
22. Exhibitors of animals, machinery in motion, and other exhibits liable to occasional accidents, injury, or damage to persons coming in contact herewith shall guard their exhibits in such a way as to protect the public. Such exhibitors shall indemnify the Fair from and against any claims and demands, costs, charges, and expenses which may be incurred by reason of any accident.
23. Under no circumstances will anyone remove from the fairgrounds any grain, hay, straw or milk.
24. The objectives of the Northwest Washington Fair Association shall be to hold an annual Fair in

PARKING/CAMPING:
If you need parking/camping, please call the Northwest Washington Fair Office at 354-4111. FREE PARKING is available fair week in downtown Lynden by using the free fair shuttle that runs from designated parking lots to the fairgrounds every 12 minutes. Hours: 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. Northwest Washington Fair makes no warranty as to parking/camping availability or cost.
LOST AND FOUND
The Lost and Found department is located in People’s Place, northwest of the clock tower.
PETS:
Pets are not allowed on the fairgrounds. The only exceptions are service animals and 4-H show entries. All dogs must be on a leash. Fair management must approve animals on the fairgrounds for commercial, sports or wildlife displays. All clean up is the responsibility of the owners.
SOLICITATIONS:
The Northwest Washington Fairgrounds is private property. Begging or soliciting is STRICTLY prohibited. No roving vendor or soliciting act from a profit, nonprofit, religious, or other organization, or on its behalf, shall be permitted on the fairgrounds. All solicitations for either contributions or sale must be made from within the confines of a booth or display area that has been leased from the Northwest Washington Fair. No person shall be permitted to distribute advertising matter, handbills, flyers, tokens, or other matter upon the fairgrounds except from their leased exhibit booth or display space. Anyone violating this rule is subject to removal from the fairgrounds.
No “tip” jars or solicitation for tips is allowed unless specifically approved in writing by management prior to opening day of the fair.
GENERAL SAFETY:
In case of emergency (fire, injury, accident, and/or medical) contact fair security, first aid office or the fair office (360) 354-4111. If an ambulance is needed, first call 911, then contact above parties.
VEHICLES – UNLOADING PROCEDURES PRE-FAIR:
Exhibitors may commence installation of exhibits 3 days prior to the opening of fair. Security will unlock the buildings on Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Gate 8 (southeast gate) will be open 24 hours a day starting the Thursday before the fair. Gate 2 will be open at 7 a.m. daily starting Thursday before the fair. Parking is prohibited in front of the building doorways, vehicle lanes, and specified fire lanes. Parked vehicles shall be loaded and unloaded quickly and immediately removed from the grounds. Vehicles left unattended or parked in prohibited locations will be towed at the exhibitor’s expense.
VEHICLES – UNLOADING PROCEDURES DURING FAIR:
Vehicles will be allowed on the fairgrounds from 6 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. Drivers must show a worker’s pass to get through the gate. No vehicles are allowed inside the gates after 8:30 a.m. No two wheeled pedal or motorized vehicles are allowed on the grounds during fair hours without the written permission of the fair. Parking is prohibited in front of the building doorways, vehicle lanes, and specified fire lanes. Parked vehicles shall be loaded and unloaded quickly and immediately removed from the grounds. Vehicles left unattended or parked in prohibited locations will be towed at the exhibitor’s expense.
RESTRICTIONS:
The Northwest Washington Fair absolutely prohibits the following on the fairgrounds: alcohol, weapons (except those used as merchandise with management written permission), laser pointing devices, bicycles, roller skates/blades, skateboards, unauthorized vehicles, drug paraphernalia, controlled substances, alcoholic beverages, animals (except service animals or show animals with management permission), handing out or selling balloons, stickers or gum (unless approved in writing by management).
