Animal Haul in – Anytime Sunday before the fair via the north door of the Dairy Barn, and exiting via Gate 2. The vet usually arrives at 5 p.m. Sunday evening or Monday morning by 9 a.m. for vet checks.
Animal Release – Released Saturday night of the fair at 9 p.m. Parking in turn lane before 8:55 p.m. is not allowed by the Lynden P.D. Enter at north end of the Dairy Barn and exit through Gate 2. This will be supervised by the Superintendent.

Cow Hand Milking Contest
|
Entries can be placed on-line or forms are due in the fair Office by July 25th. If July 25th falls on a weekend, entries will be accepted in the Fair Office on the following Monday without penalty. Late entries will be charged a fee of $25.00 per head through July 31st and will be accepted if there is still room available. After July 31st, entries may not be accepted. All exhibits must be in place by 9:00 a.m. Monday of the Fair. Be sure to note on your entry which building your animal will be housed in.
1. All entries in this department must be registered. A photo copy of all registration papers must be to the Superintendent by July 31st or a late fee of $10.00 per paper will be charged. All registration papers and tattoos will be checked. No animal deemed unworthy shall be entered.
2. 4-H and FFA members must write their name on the top of the Registration papers of the animal they are showing.
3. Dairy cattle are not allowed to leave the barn during Fair week. Not for fresh air, exercise, etc.
4. Each exhibitor will be limited to 14 head, all breeds included. No more than two dry cows per exhibitor. In case of shortage in stall space, exhibitors with the most entries will be cut first.
5. Each exhibitor will be limited to two premiums in any one lot.
6. Any breed with less than 5 head becomes an exhibit not qualified for lot premiums. Exhibit premiums will be $30.00 per head.
7. Passes available for purchase at the fair office issued on the basis of two passes for the first two cattle and one pass for every two cattle thereafter. These passes will be made available after the stalls have been assigned.
8. See the Superintendent for information and equipment use. There will be an exhibitors meeting at 2 p.m. on Monday and 2 p.m. on Saturday in the dairy barn lounge for all open class exhibitors and 4-H and FFA leaders.
9. Only blue and red ribbon winners from 4-H and FFA may enter Open Class, provided there is a minimum of 10 open class cattle per breed or two exhibitors.
10. MILKING TIME: 4 a.m. to 7:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Each exhibitor must inform milker of their preferred milking time. If the exhibitor is not on time, they drop to the bottom of the list unless there is an opening.
11. All milk must be put into tank and will become the property of the Fair. All medicated animals must be milked last if using parlor. Any violation of antibiotics in the milk will result in forfeit of premiums.
12. A respiratory complex vaccine is strongly recommended four (4) weeks prior to the fair.
13. Keep the barns neat and clean for the public. Bedding will be furnished by the fair. Exhibitors must provide attendants for their cattle.
14. On February 9, 2002 the Washington State Holstein board and membership passed a resolution that states: Second generation identified Holstein Grade cattle (75% RHA-NA) are eligible to compete in all 4-H, FFA and Open class shows at the Northwest Washington Fair.

PREMIER BREEDER AND EXHIBITOR AWARDS
The Northwest Washington Fair will award banners for premier breeder and premier exhibitor awards. To qualify for banners there must be competition of two or more herds in each breed and a minimum of three head per herd.
Premier Breeder - The breeder winning the most money on not to exceed six animals in the open single classes exhibited by himself and/or other exhibitors shall be designated the Premier Breeder.
Premier Exhibitor - The exhibitor winning the most money on not to exceed six animals owned and exhibited by himself shall be designated the Premier Exhibitor. An exhibitor's qualifying animals shall be defined as follows: Any animal within the family unit housed on exhibitor's farm may be used for this award.
